“The Seven Paths to Success” was compiled from powerful and fascinating conversations with passionate, dedicated and driven individuals who have played such an influential role in the success of so many others.
Gillette draws from an extraordinary background to help people overcome obstacles and achieve far beyond their expectations. Gillette’s life includes time spent as an Army Paratrooper, SWAT Commander, government counter-terrorism consultant, bodyguard to Fortune 500 CEOs, member of the Martial Arts Masters Hall of Fame and Guinness World Record-holder.
After growing up poor, in a household overwhelmed by domestic violence and substance abuse, Gillette enlisted in the military and then earned an ROTC scholarship to the University of Arizona before going to work in law enforcement. An early decision to focus on helping others has manifested itself in everything he has done since childhood.
According to Gillette, “I’ve always felt I was at my best when I was helping other people. And I’ve always felt my best when I pursue strength. I don’t mean just in the physical sense, but in doing things that make me better. It’s just been a constant for me.”
Gillette does not appear to know the meaning of the word “failure.” The combination of his diverse life experiences and the lessons he has taken from them make him the ideal coach for those who want to smash through the obstacles that are keeping them from achieving peak performance.
Gillette shares, “Peak performance is operating at one’s optimal level of potential, and to return to that level on demand. For example, many of us have had moments in our lives when what we’re doing seems to go very well. Where what we want to have happen, happens. And it does so in almost effortless way. This is when we are in what psychologists refer to as a ‘flow state’. But, how does a person get to such a state? And how do they reliably return to that state whenever they want to? Because I’ve been exposed to so many different methods because of the different things I’ve done professionally throughout my life, I’ve been able to extract what works well and to teach it in a way that is understandable and doable for people.”
As a coach, Gillette helps people reach that next level they desire by designing a plan to get them to that point. As Gillette points out, “A lot of the things I’ve accomplished in these disparate areas are really the result of being good at planning and being good at execution. Once people have the right roadmap, we find that they do so much better in getting the outcomes they desire.”
Gillette excels at helping others achieve the outcomes they desire, by assisting them in identifying and obliterating both external and internal obstacles.
