“The Seven Paths to Success” was compiled from powerful and fascinating conversations with passionate, dedicated and driven individuals who have played such an influential role in the success of so many others. Welch helps people overcome personal communication challenges to improve their business and personal relationships. She shares her definitions of flexibility in communication and how that benefits the end results of the conversations.
With a Masters in Psychology, Welch has worked as a Mental Health Therapist and currently teaches Sociology at Florida Southern College. She coaches businessmen who, though already successful, realize there are communication obstacles which are holding them back from even greater success – both in their business relationships, as well as in their personal relationships.
According to Welch, “The communications part of these highly successful people – many from the corporate world – is one of their biggest problems. I tend to work with these really techie, analytical people who are perfectionists and have had successes. But there’s a part of them that just cannot communicate. They talk too much. There are too many facts and figures and too many things going. They’re trying to relate and it’s just not working.”
For many, this difficulty spills over into their personal relationships and personal life. Welch helps to simplify the very complicated world of the psychology of marketing by letting them know that their clients or prospects don’t want extensive explanations about what they do. They just want them to do what they do.
As Welch shares, “I basically cut out everything that they put in their marketing speech, even their 30-second elevator pitch. It goes back to the old features and benefits. They’re always just rattling off what it is. I reframe it to taking a look at how you’re speaking, how you’re thinking, how you’re feeling and how you understand your world.”
“The analyticals are always leading with their product. I tell them they have to lead with desire. Find out what they want and just give it to them. In addition, I go way deeper than that. Why don’t you tap into what your desires are first, because you can’t give what you don’t have?” explains Welch.
These professionals go from being very rigid in their approach to business and life, to becoming flexible and better at communicating what they do, as well as communicating the value of what they’re marketing. All of this helps to ensure even greater success than they’ve ever experienced.
