Program 15 and Future Stars Series CEO and President of Baseball Operations, Jeremy Booth, officially announced the following appointments to the organization’s growing faculty and staff of MLB veterans.
Roberto Kelly – National Outfield and Baserunning Coordinator
Kelly was a member of two MLB All-Star teams as a player with the New York Yankees and Cincinnati Reds, and three-time World Series Champion with the San Francisco Giants, where he’s spent the last nine years as a first and third base coach.
Booth said, “We are proud to be able to attract this level of faculty and our players are extremely excited to have a pro like Roberto Kelly, with his first hand Major League Baseball experience as a two-time All Star and three World Series Rings join the Program 15 staff.”
Chad Moeller – National Catching Coordinator
Moeller made over 500 Major League Baseball appearances as catcher. As a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks 2001 World Series team, he caught for Randy Johnson’s record setting 16 strikeout game as a reliever. In 2004 he was behind the plate for Ben Sheets franchise shattering 18 strikeout game with the Milwaukee Brewers.
“Chad and I have known each other for probably 25 years. We played against each other in high school,” says Booth. “He’s one of the best defensive catchers I’ve ever seen and it’s just a privilege to now have him as part of the Future Stars Series”.
The Future Stars Series is the initiative between New Balance and Program 15 to elevate the game of baseball by providing amateur baseball players across all economic levels an opportunity to reach their full potential through the training, development, and guidance of former MLB players, scouts, and coaches.
Booth, a regularly featured guest on sports radio, has become a highly requested speaker for baseball organizations around the country to speak about the Future Stars Series. “We’re getting interest from over 1,500 colleges and many major league teams. We have incorporated and are unified with the goals of Major League Baseball and the commissioner’s grassroots, scouting, and player development. Our goal is, and will continue to be, to impact as many players and organizations, at all levels, across the country to ensure the growth of our game going forward and to provide a better product for the stars tomorrow.”
With top names in sporting goods like All-Star, Zinger Bats and Akadema Bats coming on board as vendor/partners the Future Stars Series momentum continues to grow. Scouting and Development combines will continue at the University of Southern California this weekend, followed by San Francisco and Toronto, with additional camps scheduled through February.
