Ralph Napolitano, star of CNBC’s “Consumed: The Real Restaurant Business,” and one of the owners of Ann & Tony’s restaurant in the Bronx, NY was the featured guest on Influencers Radio show with Jack Mize. He discussed the struggles of growing a family run restaurant while maintaining and building the family legacy for future generations.
Ralph Napolitano, his brother Anthony and their mother, Vera star in the CNBC Docu-Series “Consumed: The Real Restaurant Business”. The show documents the day-to-day issues facing Ann & Tony’s, an Italian restaurant on Arthur Avenue in New York City, in the heart of the Bronx. Founded in 1927 by his great-grandfather, the reins of this Napolitano restaurant have been handed down through the generations. An institution for years and a favorite stopping place for celebrities of years gone by, Ann & Tony’s faces fierce competition from newer venues in the area.
In this interview, Ralph discusses how he is striving to work through those struggles using creative strategies and online marketing techniques. Some of these struggles are chronicled in the CNBC primetime docu-series, “Consumed: The Real Restaurant Business,” which follows the behind-the-scenes daily ups and downs of several restaurants, including Ann & Tony’s.
As Napolitano shares, “This show actually takes you really deep into the behind the scenes of what the restaurant business truly is all about. Every restaurant is different. When people walk into a restaurant, sit down and open the menu, they get caught up in the glamour of it and feel it has to be the greatest thing ever. Sometimes people decide to open one. And then they realize the reality of the restaurant business.
The show actually documents each restaurant’s hardships and wins, and basically, all the BS that goes into running this business. It’s the only show that takes you deep inside of it.”
Along with Anthony and Vera, Ralph strives to preserve the family legacy handed down through the generations. He also works to live and share the philosophies of life he learned from years of listening to his grandmother as he sat in her kitchen, watching her cook the very same dishes they still serve to their customers.
A practicing chiropractor, as well as a budding author, in this heart-warming interview, Ralph Napolitano regales listeners with many stories of famous customers, as well as incidents which happened in this venue when his great-grandfather and grandparents ran it.
He believes strongly in preserving the legacy which has been placed in his care and inspires others daily to create their own legacies to hand down for generations to come. The way he treats his customers and how he lives his life to make the world a better place are an inspiration to many who are struggling to find happiness and success in their own lives.
